Dance Around the World Lead Teachers

Paula Bliss teaches Children's Dance at San Jose State University and professional development workshops for Santa Clara Department of Education. She taught for Dance Force in San Mateo and for Spectra Plus, a program with Gault Elementary School and the Santa Cruz County Cultural Council, the first local program to infuse the arts into the curriculum. Paula is currently teaching music and movement at Mountain Elementary School. She has been performing and teaching with Tandy Beal and Co. for over two decades.

Saki! earned her BFA in Modern Dance at the University of Utah. She worked as a dancer and arts educator for Pickle Family Circus & TBC. She is currently Director of Dance for WEST Theatre and a performer and teacher with Dr. Shaffer & Mr. Stern Dance Company. She is a member of the Artist/Teacher Partnership program for the Santa Cruz County Office of Education and developed arts curricula for the SC Arts Council. She has been on the SPECTRA Arts Education roster for 15 years and has taught in over 50 schools.

Micha Scott has performed on stages around the world as a 13-year senior member of the renowned Garth Fagan Dance. Ms. Scott was a founding teacher at the Garth Fagan Dance School in Rochester, NY, has taught master classes and workshops for the company worldwide, and has performed leading roles in many of Mr. Fagan's works. She has been featured in Essence, Time Magazine and Dance Magazine, and as a soloist in the PBS televised series Dance in America. Micha is currently Artistic Director at the Tannery World Dance + Cultural Center in Santa Cruz and teaches at public schools, dance studios and universities in the Bay Area and New York.

 

Jane Real holds a BA in Theater (UCSC), MA in Dance (UCLA) and MS in Elementary Education (CUNY). As a professional dancer in NYC she choreographed, performed and directed projects including work with Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane & Co., K 2 Dance, Creech/Koester, Brooklyn Dance Consortium, Dance Theater Workshop, Tandy Beal & Co. and MoveSpeakSpin. As a credentialed teacher she developed a Pedagogy for Dancers curriculum at Queens College CUNY, taught Elementary school in NYC, New Jersey and as well as CA. Jane has taught Creative Dance in both English and Spanish at Delaveaga School for the past 8 years.
