A community leader, TBC has made benefit shows to raise money for other organizations, such as S.F. Symphony, Lobero Theatre, Dominican Hospital, AIDS Project, Hospice, Cesar Chavez Library and Institute for Noetic Sciences. Following our hearts and belief that art should be accessible to all and is essential for developing creativity and empathy for one another, our annual arts education program, ArtSmart (which reaches 90% low-income children) is offered for free, and in 2014-15 will reach 20,000 kids, teachers and families. Building bridges with our community is an organizational pillar for TBC and to that end we developed the Japan CulturalFair, Cafezinho (with Bookshop Santa Cruz), Carnival Santa Cruz (with Kuumbwa Jazz Center) and Discover Dance! the first world dance concert and classes in Santa Cruz in the early 80’s.
