ArtSmart, Tandy Beal & Company’s Arts Education Program, inspires 21st century skills — collaboration, creativity, communication, critical thinking — through art experiences with professional Teaching Artists.

A Principal wrote that each aspect of ArtSmart “is such a confidence builder for our students and such an empowering opportunity for our teachers to partner with qualified and passionate artists. Without a doubt, this level of arts instruction enriches the curriculum, motivates the students and gives them opportunities to build their creativity, work as a team and foster self-confidence.”

ArtSmart builds on our 50 years of work with schools to ignite the imagination of both children and teachers with integrated arts education components. As Michael Watkins, former Santa Cruz School Superintendent says, “Through arts in education, students develop the creative thinking and problem solving skills that are crucial to successful life and work in the 21st century.”

ArtSmart engages young people and helps broaden their perspective and their dreams for themselves, make imaginative choices in life and bring joy to their lives. This is what art can do, and this is what ArtSmart does!

How do these ideals manifest? We offer:

  • Award winning guest artist concerts for schools and families

  • 4-8 week Residencies (Dance Around the World; The Kindness Project; Wide Wide World; Hitting the High C’s)

  • Mentorships for new teaching artists

  • Professional Development for Classroom teachers with optional Continuing Education Units.
